The Stroke Treatment and Neuro Catheterization Unit at Royal Hospital Hurghada has achieved a new medical success in saving the life of a patient suffering from recurrent strokes. The case required urgent, highly specialized medical intervention, reflecting the efficiency of the medical team and the advanced treatment services available at the hospital.
A diagnostic catheterization was performed on the arteries of the neck and brain, revealing a 75% narrowing in the left carotid artery. This condition was affecting blood flow to the brain and increasing the risk of recurrent strokes. Based on the medical assessment, the team successfully performed carotid artery stenting and balloon angioplasty, helping restore normal blood flow to the brain and reduce the risk of future complications.
The Stroke Treatment and Neuro Catheterization Unit at Royal Hospital is the only unit of its kind in the Red Sea Governorate. It provides advanced diagnostic and interventional services for stroke cases and diseases of the brain and neck arteries, allowing patients to receive specialized care in Hurghada without the need to travel outside the governorate.
This achievement was led by Dr. Mohamed Abou El Yazid and Dr. Ahmed Tarek, with the participation of the hospital’s specialized medical team, alongside the efforts of Dr. Mostafa Abdel Wahab, Consultant of Anesthesia, who played an important role in managing this complex case.
Royal Hospital Hurghada reaffirms its ongoing commitment to providing advanced medical care in stroke treatment and neuro catheterization according to the highest standards of quality and safety, serving the people of Hurghada and the Red Sea Governorate.
